Tips
It's easier to write about a topic that you're familiar with. You don't need to do very much extra research, and if you're passionate about something it sounds more interesting to the audience.
-Sarina
When you try to come up with something that will enetertain your audience, try to remember those stories that made you laugh, or that you enjoyed listening to. -Jose Bautista
I agree with what Sarina said about having a topic that you are familiar with, especially if it happens to be something that the audience can relate to. It really does show when you're comfortable with the subject of your speech--it makes you seem confident and prepared.
-Micah
When you practice your speech at home, maybe estimate that the amount of time it takes you to get through your speech at home will be longer than the time it takes giving the actual speech. Nervousness sometimes speeds up your talking.
-Courtney
Make sure to make the Speeck to Entertain about either a funny, sad, happy, meaningful, or interesting subject-- something that will keep your audiences attention. Practice it at home, and time yourself to make sure the speech is 2-4 minutes. Talk slowly, breath, and keep eye contact. And don't forget to write the speech down on flashcards!
-Laura
Like Sarina, I would try to use a story you're familiar with and that has happened to you. Also make sure yourstory has a lot of emotion. As I said to Brook you shuldn't write too much about what happened but how it affected you. Make sure you practice your speech before hand and have notecards!

I think that for this speech it was important to talk about something that others could relate to. Also, for me, it was very helpful to practice my speech so that I was able to speak with more confidence and be more calm.

I agree with sarina that it's easier to talk about something you know. When it's an incident or event that you've experienced it is easier to go into detail explaining it, making it easier for the audience to understand adn therefore feel a part of.
